A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
